VALDOSTA — The College of Arts and Sciences and Department of Physics, 天文学, and Geosciences at Valdosta State University will present Science Saturday: An Odyssey from Heaven to Earth from 9 a.m. 至二月午. 28 in Nevins Hall.

Faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences understand that the nation’s future economic prosperity is closely linked with student success in the STEM fields. 

According to the United States Department of Education, only 16 percent of American high school seniors are proficient in mathematics and interested in a STEM career. President Barack Obama has called on the nation to develop, 招募, 保留100个,000 STEM teachers over the next 10 years. He has also asked colleges and universities to graduate an additional one million students with STEM majors.

Science Saturday activities are free of charge and open to the public.

The next Science Saturday will be held on March 14 and involves activities developed by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
